The script for Tommy's Train was brought to me by a client. The film was created to help raise awareness of the Thompson Family Railway, its history, and the family's fight to have the train returned to them by the city of Anacortes, Washington.

Produced at the height of the pandemic, the film combined virtual interviews with original footage shot specifically for the story. Key sections of the train were recreated at full scale, and a collaborator's workshop was transformed into our set. Using motion-control photography, I captured the practical recreations and brought the Thompson family's history to life on screen.

After its release, the film helped generate widespread media attention and public support for the Thompson family. That renewed attention contributed to the city reconsidering its decision, and the train was ultimately returned to the family who had donated it decades earlier.
