The pitch was this: create a high-end promo featuring Grammy Award-winning recording artist Matthew Wilder. The piece needed to showcase his career while positioning him for future work composing for film and television. It was up to me to figure out what that looked, sounded, and felt like.

Over the course of a year and a half, I worked closely with Matthew and his representation to craft the narrative, tone, and look. I captured more than 80 hours of original footage in his home, recording studio, and during a scoring session, building the material needed to tell Matthew's story.

Once we had a cut in place, we cast actress Ming-Na Wen to lend her voice to the piece. As the voice of Disney's Mulan, a film Matthew scored, she brought a meaningful connection to the story. I directed her voiceover session, and the finished film became Matthew's calling card as he pursued new opportunities composing for film and television.
